What is a Vax Passport?
A Vax Passport is a small Thai booklet shaped card that provides official Thai government confirmation that you have finished a course of Covid-19 vaccines approved in for use in Thailand.
Why do I need a Vax Passport?
It is an easy, convenient and quite possibly the only way to prove to staff in overseas restaurants, hotels, airlines, insurers and hospital alike, that you have been vaccinated and so we see it as an essential part of international travel and is also likely to be very helpful for using in Thailand during 2022.
Can I use it in Thailand ?ย
The Vax Passport is likely to catch on in Thailand as its pocket sized and officially certified document which is easy to carry around.
This will be useful inย an emergencyย as if a person is seriously sick or suffered an accident the last thing that they want is doctors and nurses worried about them having Covid-19 and it potentially delaying their treatment. It could also be more trustworthy than a sheet of paper from a hospital with an ineligible initial.
Isnโt the hospitalโs paper good enough?
The page(s) that are provided from the hospital might work in many cases, but from what weโve seen they can be bulky and look like they can be altered easily while the hospitalโs stamp and the nurseโs initial can look like a single letter and be unclear.
Large hospitals employ many staff, it might also be easy to stamp the document with the hospitalโs logo (such as when we ask for our parking ticket to be stamped).
Unfortunately, given the world that we live in, a government certified document is likely to be seen as a greater source of reliability and there is a far better chance of it being accepted abroad than a sheet of paper from an ‘unknown’ Thai hospital.
